Disability clip artStorybook Project Advisors The following people graciously give their time to review and evaluate book content and to put the books to practical use in their respective schools/districts or service centers for evaluation and feedback: Carol A. Bartz, Ed.D DIRECTOR, North Inland Special Education Region
and Instructor at the University of California San Diego - Legal Aspects of
Special Education. Dr. Bartz coordinates special education services and funding
in 11 districts in accordance with state and federal mandates.
She is the Co-Chairperson of MIS Committee of the California
SELPA Administrators and serves on the California state

pathologist, regular secondary and special education class-room
teacher, teacher-librarian and education advisor. Her years of
direct experience with special-needs education adds a valuable
perspective to each book project. She currently works in special

Chapman is the Coordinator of Regionalized Services for Kern
County California Consortium SELPA. She is an Instructor at
California State University Bakersfield - Introduction to
Special Education and Resource Specialist Certificate - Legal
Aspects. Mrs. Chapman coordinates special
education staff development for 45 school districts. She is also
the Co-Chairperson for Comprehensive System of Professional
Development Advisory Council (CSPDAC) for the California

a Physical Therapist, Janice Hunt Herman has worked with people
with all kinds of disabilities for the past 23 years. Her
particular specialty is Assistive Technology. She works with
each individual to select the adaptive devices and tools that
will enhance his or her ability to do things more independently.
Even if they can barely move at all, she figures out a way that
they can use a computer, turn on the lights or radio, use a
wheelchair, or swallow without choking. She also does
neurological research, teaching, writing, and medical

Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY), a division of the
Academy for Educational Development (AED). Ms. Ripley oversees
the information dissemination and outreach efforts of this
information clearinghouse. As a mother of two children with
special needs, she is a uniquely qualified advisor. One of her
children is the subject of the book series entitled Famous
